Sometimes, it’s a little overwhelming trying to find the best place to spend a few nights or maybe even more, but don’t worry! We’ve got you covered.
You can find plenty of dry camping in The Blue Ridge Mountains, but we wanted to create a list of options for your RV with hookups and electricity available. These are our suggestions for the best RV Camping in The Blue Ridge Mountains.
Best RV camping the Blue Ridge Mountains
If you are traveling through the North Carolina Mountains in your RV and looking for a lovely place to stay, you may want to consider one of these seven beautiful spots.
1. Mountain Stream RV Park
Mountain Stream RV park can be found in Marion, NC, nestled in the Pisgah National Forest. This park is not only gorgeous, with Buck Creek flowing through the property, but it is also very accessible for all RV classes to reach.
The park has a small playground, a cute pet area, a nice bathhouse, free WIFI, and even a communal outdoor area with a fireplace and cable TV. This park is in a prime location, as there are many waterfalls, caves, and other hikes surrounding the area. Mountain Stream RV park is the perfect balance between a luxurious RV park and more rustic-style camping.
Nightly prices range from $52.00-$70.00, and all sites have full hookups and 50/30-amp electricity. More expensive sites will offer more shade and grass, and you will be closer to the stream. We stayed in site 22, and even though it was a little tight for our 30′ Class C, it was more private and quiet.
Reservations are required, and this place is popular, so book in advance! If you feel like getting out of the RV for a night, this park also offers stunning yurts to rent! This is a popular spot for RV camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is often rated the best RV campground in the NC mountains.
2. Indian Creek Campground
If you are interested in fishing, or you’re looking for a beautiful secluded area in the woods, then this is the perfect campground for you! Indian Creek Campground in Cherokee, NC is located right next to Bunches Creek.
This creek is streaming with trout brought in from Cherokee Fisheries and Wildlife Management Program. Indian Creek has a tent and RV camping (full hookups) cabins for rent, restrooms and showers, laundry, a playground, a store, and tons of other activities in the area.
Full hookup sites at Indian Creek are $45.00 a night. For just water and electricity, you’ll find sites at $36.00. For any Creekside premium sites, you can expect to pay $39.00. If you stay for a full seven nights, you will get the seventh night free! This spot is gorgeous and a great way to enjoy a more quaint, woodsy RV park.
3. Spacious Skies Campgrounds – Bear Den
Spacious Skies Campground – Bear Den in Spruce Pine, NC, is a perfect family place to stop and spend some time. One of the amazing perks about this campground is it’s directly off of The Blue Ridge Parkway.
We spent our time here at site D-14, and we would highly recommend it! The sites are shaded, with lots of space and privacy. One of the best parts is the many trails around the property that even the dogs can enjoy. Spacious Skies offers arcade games, a pool, a basketball court, a playground, bathrooms, and a communal area with fire pits and picnic tables.
There are plenty of pull-through RV sites with full hookups and 30/50 amp electric for $62.00 a night. Any size RV can fit in a shaded area on gravel. You also have cheaper options for water/electric hookups.
Tent camping is available, and there are fully furnished cozy cabins for rent as well (with hot tubs!). Spacious Skies is open during the winter; however, I wouldn’t recommend driving there unless you have a 4×4.
Take a drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, stop off at the Bear Den Overlook, and then check out Chestoa View Parking Area & Viewpoint. It’s a little hidden and doesn’t look like an overlook, but it’s worth getting out of your car and walking down to view. There are numerous waterfalls to enjoy off the Blue Ridge Parkway as well.
If you head south on the Blue Ridge Parkway, make sure to stop off at The Orchard at Altapass. In 1995, Katherine Trubey purchased 280 acres of unrestricted land straddling the Blue Ridge Parkway to preserve its historic beauty and prevent development that would destroy the views from the Parkway.
In 2002, the Orchard was placed into a non-profit, and the Altapass Foundation, Inc. was created to help preserve the history. The views are amazing! Shop at the general store and make sure to get an apple pie with a scoop of ice cream!
They have live music on most weekends. If you prefer to stay outdoors, they have beautiful walking trails to explore!
4. Walnut Hallow RV Ranch
With mountains on all sides and with grass as far as the eye can see, Walnut Hallow RV Ranch is beautiful. Walnut Hallow Ranch is a working cattle ranch on 156 acres in Hayesville, NC.
If you have larger groups of people, then this is a great spot! Tent camping is also available. Amenities at Walnut Hallow include full coverage Verizon service, high-speed WIFI, bathrooms, and fire rings. It’s pet-friendly, and they offer catering.
If you have a large RV, you’ll have no problem coming here. Take a farm tour, explore the ranch, and wake up with an amazing view of the Smoky Mountains! Even pick up some fresh farm-raised Angus beef on your way out.
Many of the RV sites are full hookup 50/30 amp; they are $65.00-$60.00 a night. 30-amp with water hookups are $50.00 a night, and no hookup sites are $30.00 nightly. 5. Ash Grove Mountain Cabins and Camping
Ash Grove Mountain Cabins and Camping is a magical little 14-acre in Brevard, NC. To truly experience nature, this is a wonderful campground. It isn’t as luxurious as other RV parks, but sometimes that’s the point…right?
This place is also open year-round. Here, you will find a heated bathhouse, free WIFI, a playground, laundry services, a small camp store, and a dishwashing station. The tent camping is perfect, and there are two shelter houses called the Gnome Home and the Elf Shelf.
There are over 250 waterfalls surrounding this campground, not to mention the tons of other streams and rivers. There is so much to explore within the gorgeous Ponderosa Pines!
It is important to note that there are no sewer hookups available at this campground. However, there is a dump station. It is still a beautiful campground nonetheless and is worth visiting! 32 feet is the maximum length of RV they can accommodate.
All RV sites are 20/30 amp electric and water hookups, along with a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are graveled and spread out so you can enjoy your privacy. RV sites are $40.00 a night with four people; the extra 5th and 6th person will cost $5.00 extra.
6. FoxFire of Murphy RV Park
Foxfire of Murphy RV Park is a beautiful spot in the mountains in Murphy, NC. Here, you will have lots of land to explore and take beautiful walks, and dogs are allowed, even in some off-leash areas.
There are picnic tables, fire rings, horseshoes, and golf carts available. This place is very easy for any RV to get to, so if you’re looking for something simple, beautiful, and easy, then this is a great place!
All sites have full hookups with 50/30-amp electricity and free WIFI, and there are a few creekside sites available. The sites are not very spread out, so be aware that you will probably be making friends with your neighbors!
All sites are paved and level. Premium pull-through sites are $65.00 a night; all other sites are $55.00 a night. There is a minimum 2-night stay required.
7. Creekwood Farm RV Park
Creekwood Farm RV Park in Waynesville, NC, is definitely more of your classic RV park. Many people park here long-term to enjoy all the park has to offer. There are many events held, like concerts, movie nights, food trucks, and more! There is a store with essentials, a bathhouse, and a laundry area.
This RV park is very close to the towns of Waynesville and Maggie Valley, where you can find everything you need, including museums, shops, and restaurants. If you are looking to get out into nature, no worries because the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is your backyard here.
Any size RV can be accommodated here, and all sites are full hookups with 50/30-amp electricity. All premium RV sites have a concrete slab, a fire pit, and privacy fencing. Premium Creek sites receive a free bundle of firewood upon entry.
Off-creek sites are $55.00 a night, creek sites are $68.00 a night, and premium creek sites are $91.00 a night. There are also cabins available to rent. This is a great option if you are looking for RV campgrounds in the NC mountains on the river.
