We have visited Corolla almost every year since living in NC; it’s one of our favorite places in the Outer Banks.

A trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina is always a good idea, and there is no better way to spend a summer vacation or a weekend getaway than in Corolla, NC. Corolla can be found on the northern part of the Outer Banks, with the Currituck Sound on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. This gives Corolla one of the most unique locations ever.

Because of its location, Corolla was and is considered a fairly remote part of the state. Up until 1988, there were no paved roads to Corolla. It could only be reached by a ride through the beach or a dirt path along Currituck Sound.

Between the inspiring beaches, the pristine swimming, wild horses, the interesting shops, restaurants, and museums, Corolla has it all. If you are looking for a more relaxed vacation to the Outer Banks (OBX), then Corolla is a great option.

Where is Corolla NC?

Corolla is the northernmost town of the Outer Banks. Corolla has one road coming in and out called NC Hwy 12 or the Ocean Trail. The nearest town to Corolla is Duck, followed by Kitty Hawk and Nags Head
