1. Burial Beer Co.

After searching for the perfect city, two New Orleans natives found themselves in Asheville, feeling inspired to create the perfect brewery. What began small has turned into a company with 4 locations and sell-out beers.

Burial is well known across the country for having unique beers and eccentric artworks. You can enjoy these beers along with food at their two Asheville locations. Many who visit often say Burial has become their favorite brewery in all of Asheville.

It’s hard to compete with the owner’s intense love for art and dedication to creating the tastiest beers. You cannot miss the Burial Beer Companies Forestry Camp location with the large and colorful mural painted on the side of the building. One of our favorite outdoor breweries in Asheville NC.

2. Hi-Wire Brewing

With one of the most fun atmospheres, colorful walls, a fabulous staff, and perfectly brewed beers, Hi-Wire is another one of Ashevilles’ favorite breweries. Because of their unique flavor pairings and exciting attitudes towards beer, they have grown into a large and well-loved company.

All of their Asheville locations have entertaining indoor and outdoor activities like yard games, vibrant, colorful murals, and lots of seating. 3. Asheville Brewing Company

Address: 77 Coxe Ave, Asheville, NC 28801

With a name like Asheville Brewing Company, there is no doubt that this brewery is a staple to the city. Not only with beers in mind, but they also work hard to create a fun and entertaining atmosphere in their three locations. 

The North Asheville location is their most popular and first location. Not only do they have a large indoor taproom, but also a large outdoor patio with a 150-seat outdoor movie theater. Here you can enjoy pizzas and see new movies with the cheapest movie tickets in town, all while drinking delicious beers. This is a favorite location amongst families.

Their second location sees lots of foot traffic because of its location in downtown Asheville. This location has a full menu with burgers, pizzas, and sides. Enjoy dine-in at their indoor bar or large covered outdoor patio, or take some things to go. Their last location is delivery or takeout only.

4. Wicked Weed Brewing and Funkatorium

If you are a fan of sour beers, then you will love Wicked Weed Brewing. Opened in 2012, they realized the demand for their sours was so great that they opened the East Coast’s first sour beer dedicated taproom just two years after their start. Their sours have become so popular they began distribution across six states. 

There are three locations in Asheville. The Brewpub, their original brew room, has a full restaurant, a downstairs taproom, and the original 15-barrel brewery. Enjoy their unique beers while drinking on their dog-friendly outdoor patio.

Funkatorium, the second location, is the sour beer lovers’ delight. They have over 22 sours on tap, including a handful of other delicious flavors. Their updated outdoor space reminds you of being in a garden. This location is also a full-service restaurant.

A third location in Asheville, Cultura, is not a brewery; rather, it’s more of an eccentric culinary experience that is attached to the Funkatorium. Open Thursdays-Sundays only, each night has its own theme, and all foods are paired with exceptional drinks.

5. Wedge Brewing Company

Address: 37 Paynes Way, Asheville, NC 28801

Two of the three Wedge Brewing Company locations are located in Asheville’s River Arts District, a place near and dear to the hearts of this local brewery. The first location in the Wedge Studios Building has a massive outdoor seating area that attracts many artists and creatives.

From Tuesday through Sunday, you can grab some food from a rotating list of food trucks parked here to complement the fantastic beers on offer.

Their second location, Wegde on Foundy, is in a graffiti-covered building just up the road, less than a mile away.

This location gave them more inside seating and the ability to host indoor events, but this spot also has a great outdoor patio and features the Chop Shop Butchery Food Truck on a daily basis.

Their newest location is found inside the historic Grove Arcade in the center of downtown Asheville, just over a mile from their other homes in the River Arts District.

6. Catawba Brewery

Address: 32 Banks Ave, Asheville, NC 28801

Named after the Catawba River, Catawba Brewing has humble beginnings started by North Carolina natives. They have become a well-known and well-loved company with unique flavors of beers, including their specialty beer, a raspberry brown ale.  

Since its start in 1999, they have grown into a company with 4 locations, including Charlotte, Wilmington, and two locations in Asheville. Both of their Asheville locations are dog-friendly, with nice outdoor seating arrangements.

7. Westville Pub / All Sevens Brewing

The Westville Pub in West Asheville is an American-inspired pub with delicious food and great beer. The food is cooked with perfection and is a classic take on pub food with a little Southern twist to it. All bread and desserts are freshly made in-house every day. 

Westville pub shares beers from 10 local breweries, giving you an exciting selection. However, you may want to try a beer from their own brewery, All Sevens Brewing.

While the brewery is small, it has flavors that will knock you out of the park. The pub is open all day, and late at night, so you can always stop by and enjoy yourself.

8. Highland Brewing Company

You cannot take a trip to Asheville without stopping at the city’s oldest and largest craft brewing company. Opened in 1994, it became the first legal brewing company in Asheville since prohibition. Over the years, the brewery has only grown into this amazing brewing company that has the hearts of many.

9. Hillman Beer

Hillman Beer is a family-owned and operated company located in the historic Biltmore Village of Asheville. The owners of Hillman have worked hard to give patrons a quality, comfortable experience that they will never forget. 

The original location, in Asheville, has a prime location next to Sweeten Creek. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the outdoor area with abundant seating arrangements by the water and under the shade of the trees. This is the perfect escape from busy city life and a great place to get food and drink.

10. Green Man Brewery

Address: 27 Buxton Ave, Asheville, NC 28801

If you are a beer lover familiar with Asheville, then you’ve probably seen Green Man’s iconic logo. Quite literally, a “green man” with a green hat and a beard made of green leaves adorns every can and every bottle.

Green Man Brewing has been a staple in Asheville since 1997 and provides the city with fresh and innovative flavors.

During these last 25 years, Green Man Brewing has opened three locations throughout Asheville. “The Green Mansion” is a three-story brewpub with an outdoor patio, fire pits, a retail shop, and a taproom.

It is the newest of the three locations, right next to Dirty Jacks. “Dirty Jacks” was Green Mans’ original and first taproom.

Dirty Jacks is where all their specialty and taproom-exclusive beers are created. This location is kid-friendly and dog-friendly on its large outdoor patio. Lastly, “Green Man Eats!” is their restaurant location, serving a large menu of burgers, sides, sandwiches, and baskets, all paired with their delicious beers. 

11. New Origin Brewing Company

New Origin Brewing Company is simple yet modern, comfortable, and memorable. They have a large selection of beers with a rotating tap list. New Origin Brewing stands out for its beautiful beer garden lawn area that is dog and kid-friendly.

It is a relaxing thing to enjoy a beer while sitting on the lawn; you will not feel like you’re in the city at all!

12. Eurisko Beer Company

Eurisko Beer is a taproom-focused brewery with lovely traditional German-style beers made with many modern flares. Eurisko is a great place to stop and see live shows like comedy nights, musical events, themed nights, and more. 

Their facility has an upstairs taproom, a charming outdoor seating area, and a downstairs lounge area. The owners of Eurisko want their customers to feel appreciated and celebrated, and you definitely feel that way right upon entry.

13. French Broad Brewery

French Broad Brewery has been brewing some of the finest beers in Asheville since 2000. Inspired by the ever-so-famous French Broad River, the owners of French Broad Brewery like to embody the river and its importance in everything they do.

The beers are iconic, and the atmosphere is so fun and lively. Stop in for a drink (only $4 pints on Mondays!) and a pizza, and enjoy a large selection of bar games and board games. Live music plays all year round, and often for no charge.

14. New Belgium Brewery

The idea for New Belgium Brewery all started with a bike trip around Belgium in the 1980s. Afterward, the owners of the company established themselves in Fort Collins, Colorado.

After years of making headways with specialty-crafted beers and creating quite the name for themselves in the Rock Mountains, they decided to take some business to the East Coast, opening a brewery in Asheville in the summer of 2016.

It seems they brought some Colorado vibes with them to the Asheville location. The building is right next to the river, with lots of outdoor patio space, picnic tables, yard space, and walking trails.

Large musical events are often held here, and there is always something delicious to eat at the food trucks they host. Make sure to book a tour to enjoy what they have to offer fully.

If you are looking for variety, nobody does it better than The Whale. They have one of the broader selections of beer in Asheville. You can get anything from regular IPAs and porters to sake, mead, rose, lambic, kombucha, and much more. 

With a carefully selected list of draft and bottled beers from around the world, The Whale has curated one of the most diverse beer lists you will find anywhere around. Although they aren’t a brewery themselves, the Whale does some collabs with local and regional breweries to provide “Whale Exclusives”.

The owners of Foggy Mountain Brew Pub pride themselves on being true, friendly folk from Wisconsin, here to bring Asheville a new flare in the brewing world. Not only is this a brewpub, but a live music venue, a sports bar, and a restaurant. 

You can never go wrong with a trip to Foggy Mountain. It is a guarantee that you will be served excellent beers and delicious food and encounter some of the friendliest services around. The building may look small, but there is a small, cozy outdoor area in the back, great for late nights or a relaxing lunch.

Finding the perfect place to stay during your brewery tour of Asheville is equally as important as finding the best breweries. Whether you want to stay close to town or get out of the city for a change of scenery, there are plenty of options when it comes to lodging
