The areas surrounding Asheville are great spots for camping and always have been. Many of these places have added additional glamping sites or built glamping cabins, yurts, etc. for those looking to experience something a little more lavish than the regular camping trip.

Where can you go glamping in North Carolina?

Glamping Collective

Just 20 minutes west of Asheville, you will find 4 of the most beautiful domes you could think of! There are 2 domes, The Luxe Dome and the Dome, and 2 beautiful glass cabins. Both domes sleep 1 or 2 people and have amazing mountain views.

They have plush king beds, luxury bathrooms with hot showers, and outside fire pits with chairs. This is your option for a luxury glamping dome North Carolina.

The domes are fully insulated with AC and heat for summer or winter stays! The glass cabins have even better views, private decks with fire pits, luxury bathrooms, and full kitchens. The luxe glass cabin also has a private hot tub.

Asheville Treehouse and Dome Glamping

Asheville Treehouse and Dome Glamping is the ultimate glamping adventure. Currently, there are only two domes available for rent as they are expanding and changing their facilities. The slide domes have brought many visitors and are well-talked about!

They are large domes fully equipped with bathrooms, showers, multiple queen beds, and an indoor slide that connects the upper loft to the common area down below.

Pisgah Glamping 

Just 10 minutes from Asheville, in the 6,000-acre Bent Creek Experimental forest, you can find 12 custom-designed luxury glamping sites. Each site is a fully furnished canvas platform tent right in the heart of the Pisgah forest.

Each tent has a fully dressed queen-sized bed, a foldable cot for extra visitors, bedside tables, full electricity, a wonderful outside front deck, and a picnic table next to a fire pit outside. There are shared bathrooms with hot showers nearby.

Pets are welcome here, as long as they remain on a leash. Pisgah glamping is a great place to take the family, and enjoy everything the forest has to offer while staying comfortable!

The Heart Center

On 30 acres, surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, you can find The Heart Center (use code SARAHMDFDF03 for $10 off). Once an old-school campsite, the new owners decide to fix it up to create a holistic healing center for people to come and heal, relax, and re-energize.

There are 3 glamping-style yurts, along with 4 regular tent campsites. The 2 Mongolian-style yurts easily sleep 4 people. Inside, there is 1 double bed and two single beds. All the yurts are heated and insulated for maximum comfort.

Outside there are shared fire pits, shared bathrooms with hot showers,  tennis courts, and a volleyball court. Guests have access to healing Reiki sessions, group meditation activities, and take walkabouts in the forest!

Holmes Farm Yurt

For the past 6 years, this yurt has been a place for people to truly rewind and relax! There is just one yurt located on the owner’s land, with gorgeous mountain and creek views.

The yurt itself is beautifully designed and fully furnished. Inside, there is a full kitchen, a compost toilet, space heaters for cold nights, and your own private hot tub!

The owners like to emphasize that there is NO wifi here at the property, and the yurt can only take so much electricity wise. This is a great place to go for those looking to have a true camping experience but just located in something a bit nicer than a tent.

Dogs are allowed here as well. If you are looking, this option is a glamping North Carolina Airbnb option.

Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins

This isn’t your average camping at Wrong Way! In West Asheville, there are 16 tiny A-frame cabins all with private bathrooms, HVAC, an outside deck, and high-speed wifi.

Outside, there is a communal river lodge with a Canteen, lounge, and an event space where people come to eat, drink and shop. If you have ever been curious as to what “tiny home” living was like, this is a great way to try it out!

The cabins are comfortable and fully furnished, and you will have a great time with the family exploring the property and the area around it. Pets are allowed in select cabins for a small fee.

Under Canvas, Great Smoky Mountains Glamping

Under Canvas is 182 acres near Gatlinburg, TN. Named “Best Resort in the South” by Travel + Leisure, this place does not disappoint! There are nine canvas tents at the Smoky Mountains location (there are multiple locations across the country), including a kid’s tent, family tents, or couples tents that will suit all your needs.

They either sleep 2 or 4 people and have very luxurious, bohemian, desert vibes. We know this is in TN, but it’s so close we had to add it to our list of glamping in North Carolina mountains.

All tents have private bathrooms, fire pits with s’mores, organic bath products, wood-burning stoves, and outside patio seating. This is a great trip for either a romantic getaway or a fun camping activity for the whole family!

Plus, being at the front door to the Great Smoky Mountains is a major and beautiful bonus.

Paint Rock Farm

This treetop tipi is a one-of-a-kind experience. You are invited to stay in the large tipi that is literally tucked in with the trees. Upon arrival, you park at the bottom and take a short nature walk passed the fire pit and picnic table, onto a bridge, and into the tipi.

The tipi has 2 queen beds, and a sofa, so this is the perfect spot to bring friends! Inside you will find a kitchenette with a propane stove top and mini fridge. The tipi is fully insulated and provides AC or heaters depending on the weather.

Elevated Camping Pod

This one-of-a-kind camping pod (use code SARAHMDFDF03 for $10 off) is something out of Star Wars from the Ewok village. The raised dome is suspended in the air, nestled amongst the trees near Boone. To enter the pod, you walk along a beautiful wooden rope bridge garnished with lights.

It is the perfect unique, and romantic couples getaway, or just something fun for friends! Since it is suspended, there are no dogs or infants allowed in the pod for safety reasons.

There is a nice firepit with chairs right below the pod, and a fantastic outdoor shower with hot water. The pod is equipped with AC for hot summers and heating for colder nights, though the pod is only available to rent April-mid November.

Hidden Flower Tiny Farm

On 20 acres of the Blue Ridge Mountain wilderness, you will find this beautiful site for glamping in NC mountains. It is a one-room cedar cabin, that is nestled into a large rock outcropping and has panoramic mountain views.

Inside there is one king-sized bed, full electricity with a flat-screen TV, heater, and mini-fridge. Nearby there is a shared bathhouse with 3 hot showers.

Outside you will find a BBQ pavilion, fire pits, an amphitheater, a playground, a climbing tower, and ropes course, and so much more! Not only do the owners provide lots of outdoor activities, but this is also a very popular spot for hiking and exploring the land.

Also on the property, there is a vineyard with food and wine served all day. There is so much to do on this property, and the glamping cabin is simply beautiful. You and your family will have such an amazing stay. Pets are allowed.

Peaceful Yurt Getaway

Close to Lake Norman State Park, find yourself in this peaceful yurt surrounded by thick forest. The yurt is basically on a small private campground and is big enough for 4 people to stay.

The inside of the yurt is spacious and extremely cozy, with one queen bed and a sofa. There is also a small kitchenette, a space heater, and a mini fridge.

Outside, is a small toilet and hot shower for convenience, however, about 200 yards away is a larger shared bathroom with plumbing. You are also welcome to enjoy the screened-in patio, barbecue grill, and fire pit! Pets are welcome with an additional fee.

This is a great place to bring friends or your family, and get out to enjoy the many wonderful outdoor activities there are to do in the area.
